GTS armor is better armor for law enforcement
GTS armor is a better performance choice for law enforcement officers seeking a more overbuilt plate with excellent multiple-hit capabilities.
Our Model 1969 armor is designed for the law enforcement market. Here is why the Model 1969 is better than the others.
Mosaic strike face (ceramic tile array)
The mosaic pattern is a set of 99%+ pure ballistic ceramic tile that is joined together into a pattern from 2" pieces. These individual tiles have engineered break points and sealed together with strong adhesives, making each tile an autonomous, mini-armor system. Space-based and battlefield vehicle armor has long utilized a mosaic style for these reasons.
4-ply crack arresting technology
For Model 1969, we use a 4-ply layering of carbon strands and aramid fiber designed to protect the ceramic strike face when dropped. The crack arresting technology also holds the ceramic together during multiple-hit scenarios. Use of these materials in conjunction with a mosaic style, high-purity ceramic strike face, limits damage to adjacent tiles and provides outstanding multiple-hit ballistic resistance.
Proprietary ARMORFILM adhesives
Very few companies utilize Made in the USA ballistic adhesives. We are the only armor company that utilizes low-VOC, California Proposition 65 compliant heat-activated adhesives. This means that your armor is safe to wear and safe to be around. Our ARMORFILM is a no odor formula, specially designed to absorb and redirect ballistic energy along the engineered seam lines in our mosaic armor. Plus, the bonding melt is duration engineered to protect heat sensitive polyethylene while complying with NIJ 0101.07 demanding certification and temperature conditioning requirements. This means a little more processing time, but results in a higher quality armor plate.
Polyethylene backing materials
Ceramic armor is assembled in composite layers. The front of the plate is ceramic and the wear face (against the body) is made up of E-Glass, S-Glass or Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight-Polyethylene (UHMWPE). UHMWPE is a stronger material than glass and its elasticity is superior in catching fast moving steel penetrator rounds. Our Model 1969 uses a multi-ply UHMWE pressed backing material that provides a moderately stiff resistance material that has proven effective against multiple calibers.
The proof
The proof is in our performance. Some manufacturers will not share ballistic reports, even when certified. Check out our NIJ certified labs ballistic test reports showing multiple hits of high-powered projectiles. Be sure to read any testing comments for more perspective on which characteristics were being evaluated.
