The Russian Fort Defender 2 DF2 ceramic armor plate set represents a unique approach to body armor design. Unlike traditional two-plate systems, this 4-piece configuration uses a split-plate arrangement where the top and bottom plates overlap by approximately 2 inches. This overlap eliminates the vulnerable gap that can exist in standard plate systems while maintaining the flexibility and comfort needed for tactical operations.

Each plate features 99%+ pure alumina ceramic in a mosaic configuration, which provides superior multi-hit capability compared to monolithic ceramic designs. The mosaic pattern allows the armor to contain damage from multiple impacts within smaller zones, maintaining protection across the rest of the plate surface. This design has been validated through extensive testing at NIJ-approved laboratories, demonstrating consistent performance against RF2 threats (M193, M855, 7.62 x 51mm M80, 7.62 x 39mm MSC) or RF3 threats (.30-06 M2 AP armor piercing ammunition) depending on your selected protection level.

The plates are manufactured using proprietary ARMORFILM™ adhesives that are 100% sourced and made in the USA, ensuring consistent bonding performance and long-term durability. Aramid and carbon fiber crack arresting layers help control ceramic fragmentation during impacts, reducing dust and maintaining structural integrity. The UHMWPE backing plate provides additional strength and helps manage backface deformation to protect against blunt force trauma.
