I started Gilliam Technical Services (GTS) after discovering that bullet resistant products were out of financial reach for most of the public. I want to make protection against ballistic projecticles affordable for everyone - especially in an increasingly violent society.

I am an ex-inner city law enforcement officer. I spent some years as a policeman in Norfolk, Virginia before leaving the force to start my own aviation business. For twenty years, I flew airplanes and helicopters under contract with large utility companies. I then went to work for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in Saint Louis. During this time, my family continued to grow and develop Gilliam Technical Services and I have been helping out ever since.

As I've grown older, I've developed severe glaucoma that has taken my vision in my right eye and prevents me from flying anymore. As a result, I keep an "eye" on Gilliam Technical Services. My family runs the company, but I am often engaged in the evenings and on weekends. We are fully staffed and operational 24/7. I utilize low-vision aids and additional quality controls to make sure that I create and supervise high-quality items. When I post videos, I'll probably be wearing glare glasses that prevent eye pain. We encourage those interested to support glaucoma-related charities to include The Glaucoma Foundation.

We offer well-designed armor with functional ballistic resistances at or above what's on our product labels. We accomplish this through proprietary ballistic material layering and assembly, polyethylene and ceramic design and thickness variations, mosaic tiling for armor plates and inter-layered weaves of ballistic materials that provide for defense-related goals (like better defense against close contact shots). These aren't fancy, overpriced products - but they are professionally built, designed and effective.

We are now manufacturing hard armor plates in North Carolina, USA - from the best, long-standing, high quality, global sources. The bottom line is this: performance speaks for itself.

We add things others don't: strike face covers (crack arresting technology), adhesive between mosaic tiles to enhance multi-shot performance, wear face trauma stiffeners and other special performance enhancements. We are constantly stepping up our game and improving our product lines.
